Our Story
Passion and opportunity
It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Africa Strong Inc. is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of projects, we harness skills and resources in our network to successfully achieve our goals.
Africa Strong was founded in October 2016 after Emily and Diego spent time volunteering in Livingstone, Zambia. Quickly, several other volunteers joined in on the cause to continue to have an impact on education for Africa’s precious, bright and promising children. With about 263 million children and youth out of school, according to data from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), there is a need to provide places for children to learn. Of all the regions, sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rate of children out of school. Yet, for those in school, lack of resources and trained teachers pose a threat. According to the World Bank, 90% of those in school are not learning. Education is a powerful tool to help create opportunities, open doors and build resilience. It empowers young children to make different decisions and achieve their dreams. This is what drives Africa Strong to continue our work and why we ask you to join the movement.
