At Africa Strong, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. That’s why we are committed to building, supporting, and maintaining schools in Sub-Saharan Africa, providing access to quality education for every child. One of our key initiatives is to donate Chromebooks to schools and organizations that work with underprivileged and marginalized groups. These Chromebooks are loaded with digital books, educational resources, and online tools that enable the students to learn essential skills and harness the power of technology.
Thanks to the generous support AGParts Education, we have shipped and shared 325 Chromebooks to various locations in Africa since September of 2022, impacting thousands of lives. Here are some of the stories of how these Chromebooks have made a difference:
In Uganda, we donated 100 Chromebooks to three different schools: Ebenezer, a private primary and secondary school in Kampala; See Them Grow, a vocational school in Luuka District in Eastern Uganda; and Rwemiyenje, a primary school in rural Southwestern Uganda. These Chromebooks have enabled students to access digital textbooks, online courses, and e-commerce platforms. For example, at See Them Grow Foundation, the teenage mothers whom they served have learned how to create websites, market their products, and sell them online, becoming financially independent and successful entrepreneurs. At Rwemiyenje Primary School we look to pilot an offline solution with the Chromebooks where the students will soon be able to access digital textbooks offline, overcoming the challenge of internet connectivity.
In June 2023, we received a generous donation of an additional 120 Chromebooks from AGParts Education. Those Chromebooks have already been shipped to Nigeria, loaded with 3,000 digital books from Books For Africa, our partner organization that collects and distributes books to students in need. These books cover a wide range of subjects, from science and math to literature and history. We donated 32 of these Chromebooks to AZONETA, a non-governmental organization that promotes digital literacy and empowerment among youth and women. With these Chromebooks, AZONETA volunteers have established digital literacy programs in Nigeria, teaching the participants how to use computers, access information, and communicate online.
In Senegal and Gambia, we are planning to donate 12 Chromebooks in October 2023. These Chromebooks will be used by local schools and communities. These Chromebooks will provide them with educational opportunities and a sense of hope for the future.
Our vision is to empower education through technology, creating a positive impact on the lives of people in Africa. By donating Chromebooks, we are not only providing devices, but also opportunities for learning, growth, and development. We are also creating a network of partners and collaborators who share our vision and values. We are always looking for more supporters and donors who can help us achieve our goals.
